About

Hi I'm Lucy, a Chartered Physiotherapist with 6 years of University education and over 8 years of professional experience.  I am proudly registered with the HCPC, CSP and ACPAT governing bodies allowing you to be confident that I have the high levels of skill, knowledge and experience required to provide optimal care for your dog.

I provide treatment either from my fully equipped clinic at Orchard Vets Glastonbury or from the comfort of your own home or training facility. My passion is treating and rehabilitating all types of dogs from golden oldies to elite sports dogs by combining my knowledge of biomechanics, behaviour and training with physiotherapy to achieve optimal results. As well as designing individual rehabilitation plans I integrate hands-on techniques with electrotherapy to deliver the very best treatment for your dog.

What we do....

Services

Initial Assessment
£85
60-90 minutes

This session will involve taking an in-depth history of your dog's condition, their lifestyle, general health and what your goals for them are. This is followed by an expert objective assessment including video-capture movement analysis, functional fitness assessment, goniometry and a muscle balance and symmetry evaluation as well as a hands on assessment. The findings will be fully discussed with you and the available treatment options explained. A bespoke treatment plan is then formulated which may include LASER, electrotherapy, joint mobilisations, soft tissue treatments and a personalised exercise plan.

A written report of findings will be completed after this session and sent to both you and your vet to keep all parties up to date.

*** Please note a veterinary referral is required prior to your initial treatment sessions. Consent forms can be found under the 'Consent forms and FAQs' tab. ***

Follow Up Session
60/30 minutes

£70/£40

Follow up sessions may be required to provide ongoing care depending on the findings of your initial assessment. Each follow up begins with a re-assessment allowing your  treatment plan to evolve as your dog's condition improves. Appropriate treatment modalities will then be selected and administered to your dog. Your exercise program will also be reviewed and adjusted accordingly to ensure strength and movement gains continue to be made. Other home management advice may also be given to ensure maximum treatment carry over from session to session.

Fitness Assessment
45 minutes
£40 (plus mileage*)

Sporting and working dogs are highly driven and will work through pain or discomfort making spotting injury or dysfunction a challenge for their handler. Periodic fitness assessments will allow you to train and compete with your dog confident in the knowledge that they are fit and able to perform at the top of their game.

Fitness assessments consists of  performance evaluation (this can be in person e.g. at a training session or from video footage), video analysis, a hands-on musculoskeletal assessment and a 10-point functional strength assessment.

The outcome of these assessments can then be used to formulate a targeted fitness program. You will also receive and individualised warm-up and cool down plan for your dog.

*** Please note Fitness Assessments do not require veterinary consent as no treatment is provided during these sessions. If any injury or issue is identified you will be directed to consult with your vet. If physiotherapy treatment is appropriate a consent form must be completed***
